From the 31st of March, TFI Local Link Tipperary will enhance the existing 854 bus service between Roscrea and Nenagh.

This enhanced route is part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan which is a major national public transport initiative developed and funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) Network.

Route 854 will now operate 8 daily return service from Monday to Saturday with 2 services extending to Ballybrophy Rail Station and 6 services extending to Silvermines. On Sundays & Public Holidays the enhanced service will operate 4 daily return services, with 2 service extending to Ballybrophy Train Station and 4 services extending to Silvermines.

The enhanced route will provide peak-time and evening services and will offer improved connectivity to Ballybrophy Rail Station, Nenagh Rail Station and regional bus services. The route will also provide enhanced connectivity for the towns and villages of Silvermines, Cloughjordan, Moneygall, Toomyvara and Shinrone.

Speaking ahead of the launch TFI Local Link Tipperary General Manager Anthony Moroney said

We are delighted to see the 100% increase in services (4 return trips to 8 return trips) added to the timetable and the addition of Silvermines and Ballybrophy with this enhancement.  This enhanced service will provide greater opportunities and flexibilty for passengers from the towns and villages that it serves for access to work, educational, and social activities.”
