New Rural Bus Service in Tipperary

Local Link Tipperary announce 3 new Rural Bus Services.

Local Link Tipperary are delighted to announce 3 new Rural Bus Services in Tipperary. These services have been approved to pre-tender stage by the National Transport Authority (NTA) under the Rural Transport Programme and will operate under the Local Link Brand.

The 3 proposed new local and rural services are,

  1. Ballingarry to Thurles via Killenaule, Glengoole and Littleton Rural Bus Service operating twice a day, 5 days a week, Monday to Friday. Passengers can connect with Shamrock Coaches’ Clonmel service in Killenaule. Customers can also use this service to access LIT Thurles campus and other educational opportunities offered by Tipperary ETB. This service will be fully accessible.
  2. Tipperary Town to Cahir & Cashel operating 4 times per day, 5 days a week, Monday to Friday. This service should link with Bus Eireann’s Waterford service in Cahir. Passengers can use this service to access Limerick Junction Train Station where they may connect with Irish Rail services. The proposed service was developed in association with NTA and will fully accessible.
  3. Roscrea Town & Suburbs Local  & Community service operating 3 days per week, Monday, Thursday & Friday. This service will be fully accessible for all users. This transport service will have several stops within Roscrea Town allowing passengers with mobility issues to enjoy full social and community engagement. This service has been developed in association with Age Action Roscrea.

These services should become operational during July/August subject to Tendering.

Local Link Tipperary currently operates 50 services during each week, with some services running multiple times per day and others running once a week. There are approximately 150 trips to various destinations operating weekly.

Local Link Tipperary currently uses the services of five different operators/contractors in the delivery of the programme in Tipperary, including Ringalink.  We operate services from Rural areas to towns in Tipperary namely Clonmel, Cashel, Tipperary, Newport, Thurles, Nenagh, Roscrea and Templemore.
